Incubazul, a benchmark incubator in the Blue Economy at the I International Forum “Ecoislas”

The Cádiz Free Trade Zone incubator participates as a guest in a panel dedicated to IATs specialized in Circular Economy

Gran Canaria has been the international center of reflection on the transition towards a more sustainable socio-economic model with the first edition of the Ecoislas International Forum. An international event held on February 2 and 3 in Infecar, with the participation of four international experts and more than 60 speakers from academic, administrative, financial, business and social sectors.

With this panel, the National Network of High Technology Incubators has also been made known, mainly those oriented to Blue and Circular Economy projects. Technological trends and solutions that can be highlighted in these first years of deployment of High Technology Incubators have also been addressed.

This meeting takes place after the Cádiz experience, since the Cádiz Free Zone was last June 2022 the place chosen for the I Meeting of High Technology Incubators, in which 19 centers from all over Spain gathered. The Ecoislas International Forum has enabled a space for discussion, proposals and promotion of measures aimed at promoting the comprehensive transition towards a greener, more profitable, more self-sufficient and environmentally sustainable socioeconomic model and with an insular approach.

Promoted and financed by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Ecoislas has brought together international, national and local speakers in the same event who have presented good practices and have discussed the needs and solutions in each of the large blocks on which the programming focuses: the circular and blue economy; energy, water and mobility; adaptation to climate change; and regenerative tourism.

The program of the first Ecoislas International Forum included four plenary sessions by Manuel Maqueda, professor of Applied Circular Economy and Regenerative Economy at Harvard University; Bernard Fletz, Belgian biologist and philosopher; Leen Gorissen, biologist specializing in Ecology and Regenerative Design and Bioinspiring Innovation; and Christian Felber, promoter of the Theory of the Common Good. Within these two days, parallel sessions have also been held, practical cases have been presented and the annual report of Greening The Islands has been presented, among other proposals.

Incubazul has thus intervened once again as a reference model in Blue Economy in Andalusia.
